I Think I Wish I Could Hate Beyonce

But she's just "too darn good" at what she does. 

Real talk. I'm all about perseverance, the success story, and people working hard to get to where they're at. I'm not typically what you would call a "hater". On that opposite side of that coin flip though, I’ve learned that I’m anti-big Hollywood or more so anti- those who develop that Hollywood persona/aura. Jennifer Lopez did it (until consistent album flops brought her back to Earth), Eve did it (I saw a clip where she even developed a new accent when shopping w/ her Hollywood friends), Lil Kim embraced that junk (and I swear her plastic surgeon is in competition w/ Mike Jacks), and yes…Beyonce lives that life.

Which brings me to my main point, I can’t hate on that womens named Beyonce b/c she consistently keeps her game cold. I would LOVE to not like her new joints, and matter of fact I thought I could when she came out w/ her lil “ring on it” ditty (which she only pitches out there now b/c Jay-Z white Niked her, not being the same cat who serves ‘em “D” in the back of the truck or pours alcohol worth well over my monthly income on “up-and-coming” models who are using the “shower” as their “springboard” into Hollywood (Note: I don’t think Sanaa Latham is intimidated by the competition).) However, I can officially say that that Beyonce’s hook is embedded in my head. “Sasha Fierce” subconsciously fooled me to repeating pro-commitment/anti-player melodies over-and-over again. (This is far worse than the “bust-it-open”/”use your booty as a mop” messages I was receiving from my brethren.) Furthermore, when she broke into that “open thigh/pelvis-at-the-camera” dance move about 1:10 into the video….yes…I was intrigued.

If this wasn’t enough, she then is able to completely jack a song (see BC Jean “If I were a Boy”), whose concept seems pretty jacked (see Ciara “If I were A Boy”) and is competing for radio time w/ a dudes song on the same tip (see Usher’s “Trading Places” (unfortunately this not nearly as sexy as a theme though he made up for it w/ the soft core porn video…Usher wins too)). The problem is, it won’t matter. Her song is cold, she’s gotta cool-like video, and then she has a completely pointless beginning where she says words like “honesty”, “integrity”, and “I’m cheating”, but it becomes dope b/c she looks wet. (Props to my man Goines for pointing out that girls miraculously look better wet than dry. Maybe that’s why Jay and them poured out them bottles….doing them girls a favor.) Beyonce wins again.

Ladies & Gents…essentially my point is this: If you’re that much doper than the field at what you do, nothing else matters. R Kelley pissed on children. Lil Wayne kisses dudes. Eddie Murphy gets that good from he-she’s. And if Mike Jack didn’t touch on them boys, they shouldn’t have been in his Facebook friends network anyway. But it doesn’t matter. Until they make that fatal slip in their artistry. They’re good. And when they come back w/ another success…we forget. God bless America.
